Seahawks vs. Commanders: Jayden Daniels Returns From Injury, But Terry McLaurin’s Absence Proves Costly

Seattle, WA — November 3, 2025:

The Seattle Seahawks cruised to a dominant 38–7 victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 9 of the NFL season, despite the highly anticipated return of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders struggled offensively without their star wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who missed the game due to a quad injury.

Jayden Daniels Returns, But Commanders Struggle Without WR1

Jayden Daniels made his comeback after missing time with a hamstring injury, bringing optimism to Washington’s offense. However, without McLaurin on the field, Daniels lacked a reliable target and faced constant pressure from Seattle’s defense.

Daniels completed 16 of 28 passes for 142 yards and one interception, failing to establish any consistent rhythm throughout the game. Washington’s offensive line also struggled to contain the Seahawks’ pass rush, resulting in multiple sacks and stalled drives.

Seahawks Dominate on Both Sides of the Ball

Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold delivered one of his best performances of the season, throwing for over 250 yards and three touchdowns. The Seahawks’ offense clicked early, building a 21–0 lead by halftime, while their defense held the Commanders to just one late-game touchdown.

Running back Kenneth Walker III added 95 rushing yards and a touchdown, and the Seattle secondary intercepted Daniels once, effectively sealing the game in the third quarter.

McLaurin’s Absence Felt Deeply

Without Terry McLaurin, the Commanders’ passing game lacked explosiveness and separation downfield. Rookie receiver Luke McCaffrey led Washington with 47 receiving yards, but it wasn’t enough to spark any real momentum.

McLaurin’s return timeline remains uncertain, though early reports suggest the team may take a cautious approach given his importance to the offense.
