Why Is Cardi B on Trial? Rapper’s Testimony Goes Viral
Rapper Cardi B is in the spotlight again, but this time it’s not for music. She is currently facing a civil assault trial in Los Angeles. The case comes from a 2018 incident at a Beverly Hills medical office, when Cardi was four months pregnant.
A former security guard, Emani Ellis, has accused Cardi B of spitting on her, scratching her face with long acrylic nails, and using harsh insults. Ellis says the incident caused both physical and emotional harm and is asking for $24 million in damages.
Cardi B, however, has strongly denied the claims. She admitted that there was an argument but insists she never touched Ellis. In her words:
“I didn’t touch her. She didn’t touch me. There was no touch.”
Witnesses, including a receptionist and doctor at the clinic, have supported Cardi’s version, saying they did not see any physical fight.
The trial has gone viral because of Cardi’s unfiltered testimony, dramatic wig changes, and bold responses in court. Fans have been sharing clips across TikTok and Twitter, making her court appearance a trending topic.
Closing arguments are expected in early September 2025.
